As a company with extensive jobsite experience, we make sure to consider every geographic feature with the landscape professionals regarding site layout, building orientation and infrastructure support.
Working together with architect and timber frame specialist Jack Sobon, we develop design concepts often in conjunction with ideas advanced by clients' design professionals. Many of our initial drawings are rendered by hand, allowing rapid visualization of ideas.
Timber framing and finish carpentry are only part of the equation. Extra care is given to selecting subcontractors that are experienced and knowledgeable. Expert excavation and foundation work, stone masonry and mechanical systems are all crucial elements to the entire construction process.
In addition to collaboration with architects and engineers, we possess the ability to create full 3D renderings and 2D shop drawings in house through CADWork. This allows us to render a project in full perspective and specify each aspect of the building in order to give shape to your ideas.

Building and Design Services
Whether your needs are large or small, we manage your project from start to finish. Our company has over 40 years of experience preserving and reproducing traditional architecture in Western Massachusetts and beyond. Whether it´s an historic timber frame or barn restoration, kitchen and interior renovations or a new home or barn based on traditional building methods, we make sure the right questions are asked and answered.
Timber framing or "post and beam" construction has experienced a revitalization in America in the past few decades. This time-tested and sustainable building practice was brought to this country by European settlers and this building system was used to construct the majority of our nation's historic structures. Whether you are interetsted in "antique" timbers, repurposing an old barn frame for your needs, or starting from scratch with new construction, our knowledge and passion for timber framing will ensure a finished product you will love.
A chief characteristic of our work is our use of historic materials along with traditional building styles and forms. Whether we are moving an early structure or restoring a structure in situ all the building parts and systems are documented, carefully dismantled and repaired. In new construction, we often replicate historic elements using new materials. We also incorporate modern convenience and efficiency with traditional building styles.
